About The Artwork

This painting of yellow daffodils was done at that time of year when winter has seemed so long and so dark, that your soul yearns for springtime and colour! Daffodils remind me of English countryside in spring, new-born lambs, the first warmer days and of precious times with friends at Easter. Acrylic paint is my medium of choice. This piece was painted on a plain panel. I hope this painting brings the feeling of spring to its forever home.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 Art has become a passion for me! In recent years I have made more art and seen more art exhibitions than ever before. Born in England, I now live in Northamptonshire, UK, with my husband, Jon, and our two sons. I graduated from the University of Sussex in Biology, so art has been something that came along after formal education for me. I have been blessed and honoured to have an Artist Mentor in Steven Page Prewitt. I have participated in Steven’s workshops and open studio in North Carolina, USA, for over fifteen years now. Steven has tutored me, along with many others, in artistic principles such as value, composition and colour, as well as the techniques of acrylic painting, painting in series, collage and mixed media. It is my absolute privilege to share the fruits of everything I have learned and to be selling my work for the first time with Saatchi. Other artists I have learned from include; Brian Simons, Nancy Medina, Robert Burridge, Nicholas Wilton, Richard Claremont and Lesley Grainger. Special mention to Page Prewitt, also on Saatchi Art, who has been a faithful teacher, coach and cheerleader of mine. A breakthrough for me was in understanding value and its importance in successful paintings. One of the first painting exercises I loved doing was Bob Burridge’s pears. The idea is to warm up by painting a series of very simple pears – so fun! This exercise highlights value by painting each pear as if illuminated from one side, the resulting darks and lights produce an eye-catching result. In October 2022, I came to visit The Other Art Fair in London for the first time and was really excited by the atmosphere and variety of diverse art and artists that were there. I was inspired to one day exhibit there as an artist myself. This is the start of that journey! I paint primarily in acrylic because I have most experience with that as a medium. I also like collage and mixed media. Here are 5 fun facts about me! I ran a Half-Marathon in 2018 I previously qualified as a Zumba instructor I have been to 20 of the 50 US States I love to bake I love Star Wars!
