About The Artwork
The objects in this series of Still Life paintings are items I collected. I have some sentimental connection to these objects, but I did collect them randomly. I am interested in material qualities, such as color or texture. I used them to build a composition without any particular intention, but an ordered structure. I wanted a sense the paintings enjoy an anonymous, silent quality. I use a layered approach to my painting. I start with monochromatic underpainting. Then slowly build up layers with glazing and some impasto brush work for texture and color intensity.
