About The Artwork

Stopping place and a well earned rest from walking with the wagons on a journey through the rural countryside to pick leeks, spring greens, asparagus and onions. Freedom depicted by the Goldfinch in the painting as it comes and goes from an open cage. Freedom depicted by the wagon on open ground outside of the fence to the left. Set in a different era but based on my own travels with the Gypsies. A journey from Oldham northern England to Bristol south west and then back to the Midlands uk where I still reside. My final Atchin tan Painted on stretched canvas with edges painted as part of the scene. Finished in a soft sheen varnish to avoid the glare from electric lighting, strung ready to hang
