About The Artwork

Sunrise Heron, Melbourne Beach. In the early mornings as the sun rose above the horizon on Melbourne beach, this blue heron would wade carefully in the surf. He would stand motionless like a statue before striking at the small fish in the shallow water. Ocean waves reflected abstract fragments of morning light around him. I painted a few postcards and sent them to friends.

Mr. White grew up in vacationland - sunny South Florida. His entire psyche and what he paints is about vacation, and exploring the places of his memories - depicting people and activities. Beaches, pools, and lakes - places for relaxation and healing inspire his work. The light and colors in nature serve as his palette. Living in New York City, his current work explores the light and color of his neighborhood and the places he visits. Mr. White’s current paintings are created digitally; quick strokes painted in plein-air, his finger acts as both paintbrush and palette. Backed by decades of practiced experience, Mr. White has excelled as a motion graphics designer for “Nightline” on ABC since 2007. He found early success on the production of “Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS as the art director between 1993 and 2002. He designed Letterman’s marquee for the Ed Sullivan Theater and the logo design for “The Late Show with David Letterman” in 1993.
