About The Artwork

The Moor's heads, usually depicted in ceramic vases, are among the most famous symbols of Sicily. But many do not know the legend behind the tradition of the vases. A story of love and passion, of jealousy and a rather unexpected ending: He, walking through the streets of Palermo, saw a beautiful girl on the balcony taking care of her plants. He fell in love with her right away and the girl reciprocated his love with all her heart. But when she found out that he was married to another woman and had to return to his wife and children, she was so enraged and jealous that she cut off his head and used it to grow a basil plant. This painting was made with acrylic and spray colors on a black background that makes the contrasts very strong and the colors even more intense and brilliant. The two Moro heads (King and Queen) are a couple and the ideal would be to keep them together.

I was born in 1982 in Salerno, Italy, where I grew up as well. I visited the Art Institute "Filiberto Menna”. In my teenage years I started as a street artist, using sprays to express myself upon the walls of my home town. In 2008 I went abroad and spent two years in Spain, where I actually started to paint on canvas. 2010 I went back to Italy and lived in different cities, like Milan, Salerno and Rome.
