This painting was inspired by the history of Florida's fisheries in the 1940s. I wanted to preserve what captains would do as a nightly routine to prepare for the next day's sailfish charter. In the 40's, Palm Beach fishing vessels commonly used rigged mullet and trolled them for the elusive billfish. Today, the practice of catching and releasing sailfish is nothing like what it was. Today it is all mechanical.

United States
Having been born in the state of Florida, all of my inspiration comes from my surroundings. Fish, trees, people, the history, everything plays a role in what ends up on my canvas. I chase my next painting by being outside and experiencing the here and now. I mostly use wood or linen as my surface and oil paint as my medium.
