About The Artwork

The principle: The Medusa raft (Museo do Louvre, 1818-19), JEAN LOUIS THÉODORE GÉRICAULT. The process: high resolution image of the work; vectorization; elimination of colors maintaining the lines generated in the software; projection of the lines on a blank canvas; 1st layer: pencil transposition of the lines to the canvas; 2nd layer: graphics with Conté and watery crayon; 3rd layer: details in graphite; 4th layer: acrylic paint in asymmetric areas; 5th layer: colored geometric figures; 6th layer: details with black spray. In ideological and symbolic terms, the painting starts from the "Jangada da Medusa" to refer to the current situation of the country where I live, Brazil, which is shipwrecked politically and socially in the face of a genocidal government, which plans and projects the destruction of its people, absurdly supported by this very people who offer the neck in sacrifice. Artistically it is an expressionist and subtle attempt to express my indignation as an artist and as a citizen.
