About The Artwork

You taught me how to fly… now you clip my wings, why? Was the shining light too bright… was I not within your sight? But like the dutiful bee… I come back right to thee. O creator, O bright light… I already know my plight. In the end the pain is mine… this love, this cord may seem benign. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust… this life I chose, so suffer now I must.

The current series the artist is working on is called "Beauty in desolation". With a fascination for figurative surrealism and a bent towards the dark art style, Meghna Rao's paintings depict the darker side of human emotions through the artwork. With the main medium being oil paints on canvas, she also experiments with acrylic and pen. Her love to express the intrigue in the dichotomy of life where joy and sorrow or love and necessity ironically go together is exhibited in her work. This is depicted in the paintings with an element of monochrome attached to an element of colour or an element of solitude or sorrow depicted with an element of beauty and joy. The current theme "Beauty in desolation" has a poem with each of the pieces. A booklet will be printed carrying the images of the paintings along with their respective poems.
