About The Artwork
The original is an oil painting based on an Edwardian figure of a cartographer. In a way, he is a ghost of myself...a kind of alter ego. Before becoming an artist, I very nearly went down the road of becoming a cartographer. Then I realised that the life I was expecting had long since expired! I wouldn’t be wandering around the wilder parts of the country. Most likely, office bound in front of a computer screen! But the dream figure of the cartographer often pops up in my painting.
