This painting talks about survival and determination, crossing to another, better world where safety awaits, and of the hope that carries us all towards survival. Crossing the waterfall on these rocks is dangerous and treacherous but must be done to reach a better life. We hear a lot about the fight to survive of war refugees these days. Thousands of families, women, children, men, die everyday because a few people are greedy, selfish, mad and because they want to control other people’s lives, because money and religion has become more important than their humanity. Suzanne is a signature member of the Institut des Arts figuratifs (IAF), the group Artists for Conservation (AFC), the Lakeshore Association of Artists (LAA) and an active member of the Canadian Federation of Artists. Born in Montreal, she now lives in Pointe-Claire, Québec. Since 2007, her life is dedicated to painting and writing about her work, creativity and life as an artist through two blogs (English and French). Suzanne creates images that force the viewer to stop and reflect on the accessible beauty, calm, wildness, and especially the therapeutic quality of nature and hope. For the last two years, her art has evolved towards abstraction while retaining figurative elements. The latest series depicts contemporary forests, trees and natural elements in a semi-representative way. This semi-abstract style gives her the opportunity to paint in a freer, bolder way while preserving the detailed work she enjoys. Her favourite subject being nature, this oil painter also uses acrylic and modeling paste, especially in her contemporary forests.
