About The Artwork

Some people who have seen this painting are uncomfortable with the way the heavy red area in the upper right corner seems to loom over the rest of the painting but I like the drama that this boiling red area provides, this is the way I feel about big dark heavy rain clouds. I have always lived in an area of the country where tornadoes and hurricanes can be a threat. I think the drama and tension I feel about big storms is an important aspects in many of my paintings. These storms are when nature can really overpower mankind.

I have chosen to work abstractly because I want to work with the essence of mark making and the basic emotional reactions that colors elicit. At this moment this seems the most honest energizing way for me to work. Addison has spent more than 20 years as a professional artist and craftsmen. She received her BFA from the University of Texas in Austin and her MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Working with wood, steel, and plexiglass, under the company names of “what will the neighbors think?”, "Raven Rock Artworks" and "paigeART", Addison partnered with her brother Eric Paige to produce over 10,000 unique, finely crafted, hand painted clocks. Addison also spent several years hand dyeing silk and creating fine art quilts. Over the years Addison has been juried into the top fine art and fine craft festivals around the country and ran a thriving wholesale business. In 2013 Addison decided to leave the world of festivals and heavy travel schedules and she turned her energy towards her desire to paint large scale abstract acrylic paintings.
