The three elements of the Madonna del Latte (Milking Madonna) iconography: the hand, the breast, the hair (veil). These three elements are displayed out of context and presented as an offered "fruit". It is called The Fruit of Knowledge as breast milk is the first nutrient that allows a human baby to grow in both his body and mind. This is because the act of breastfeeding and a mother's care are essetial for mental growht. The Madonna del Latte iconography was used in italian churches in the Renaissance to give belivers the idea that the Mary was not just feeding baby Jesus with her milk, but also their minds with knowledge and wisdom.
