About The Artwork

When I was creating this piece of art, I was thinking about all the worries that the monarchs of past times had. All materials used, the imperfections and suggestions are intentional. I hope that an average person will stop by my piece of art and reflect on the importance of the past to our present living and perhaps the future THE KING 1.) He was concern about the wellbeing of his people and how to feed them. The crown on his head is full of fishes, as healthy fish ponds were his solution to provide protein to his subordinates. 2.) The king is wearing the British crown. Does he like it? His lips are shut. 3.) What color of the skin does he wish to have? The one he was born with- naturally tanned, or perhaps the white one, like the kings in England? 4.) The king loves his people and his animals. Would the peacock be the only honorable creature allowed by the etiquette of that time in his courtyard? 5.) The king loves the queen, why does he need to be so formal? 6.) Would the Hawaiian traditions survive? Do we have to cover our tattoos and wear European clothing- so inappropriate for this climate? THE QUEEN 1.) She worries about all vegetation and crops. The flowers in her crown represent mother nature. Halekonia flowers divide her forehead, showing her curiosity about the new and the old. 2.) The queen has a smaller crown. Is it better than a haku? Definitely heavier. 3.) The queen wonders which color of the skin is better. Her lips give us the answer. 4.) She will cherish peacocks. 5.) The queen loves the king. Would the new etiquette allow him to hula with her? 6.) She chooses to wear no jewelry. Would she and the other women be allowed the traditional clothing and hairstyles? Would it be approbate to have familiar dishes - the ones she grew up with in her home?

I stopped painting and sculpting after my visit to Louvre. What’s the point? I thought, the perfection has been already achieved. But even Rodin and Michal Angelo, I concluded, could only reflect what they had in the head and heart. They could not see the world the way I see it; no one can reflect my emotions. So I have found the place for myself anew and I never left the art again. This attitude placed my work in many Canadian, Polish and US galleries. I feel a surge of elation every time someone buys my work for a private home, and this has become surprisingly common through sites like saatchiart.com, but it is the daily experience of meeting people in my studio and gallery in Kailua, Hawaii that maintains my desire to work. I made a long series of bronze humanoid sculptures, painted portraits and fired clay abstracts. In my view, the choice of material is secondary, it is merely in the service of reaching the viewer, projecting to him or her my joy, pain or anger. My ideas or emotions are the real contents of the piece of art I display, they are unique because I am a unique human being with the unrepeatable point of views. The most fundamental part of my art happens long before I put my hands into clay or take a brush, it has already occurred in my head. The physical act of creation will follow uncovering for the viewer my very special thoughts.
