About The Artwork
I like to make a composition of items that have some reason for being assembled together. Her we have the ingredients of a light salad dressing sitting on the sunlit shelf of a rustic kitchen. Lemon, thyme and olive oil about to be placed in the pestle and mortar to make a fragrant addition to a summer meal. I have painted Thyme on many occasions and it Is one of the most challenging herbs to paint. All those little leaves. Very time consuming (no pun intended), but ultimately most rewarding. The painting is on an Italian handmade multi ply finished with a perfectly smooth coating of gesso enabling me to capture the tiniest nuance of light, texture and detail.
