VOLKOV MIHAIL Born in Tashkent 28 June 1954 Graduated in Graphics and Fine Arts from Tashkent State Teacher Training College in 1976. His teacher and mentor of painting was Bannikov Nikolai graduated from Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. He used to attend the lessons of the famous soviet sculptor of that time Baimatov in the field of sculpture and plastic anatomy.He did his diploma work and took his degree in painting. Having graduated he was teaching at the same Graphics Department for three years meanwhile being busy with art of painting and creating works of art continuously. Following that he was engaged in book graphics and monumental paintings. He worked for several publishing houses in Tashkent as an illustrator artist. In 1978 he joined the Youth Section of Painters of Uzbekistan. There he met a lot of painters and made friends with them. In 1987 he moved to Mukachevo in Ukraine to a much smaller town than Tashkent. There he taught in an Art School for Children and contributed as a director in five performances at Russian Drama Theatre in Mukachevo. The new town was to give new topics and opportunities concerning the activity of the artist. Also in Mukachevo he found friends with whom he started to meet Hungarian collegues of art in the frame of an art group. These meetings were to be held in both countries for example town Sarospatak in Hungary provided possibilities for organizing joint international rest camps for artists and exhibitions on several occasions. In 1993 he moved to Hungary and worked on in Szolnok. In 1994 he founded his own Drawing School at Town Cultural and Music Centre. In 1999 he was awarded as ’Painter of Szolnok’ by Szolnok Town Council. In May 2003 he took part in a cultural journey on route Moscow-Saint Petersburg where, among several other Hungarian artists, he represented Hungary.
