... This is a painting inspired by the behaviour of the current president of the Portuguese Republic, who mustn't be seen as inspiring figure but as a comedian in a moment in which the country would need, more than ever, responsible personages... What isn't the case —he lives for selfies and empty speeches. My goal is making people to reflect on serious politics when the world, in general, is crossing an hard moment because many politicians aren't prepared to rule, politicians that are just looking for status and a good life, no more than that. I usually work with oil on canvas or soft pastel on paper. In this case I used oil. Not for any special reason... It simply has happened. My normal "gesture" is there, once I only changed from theme. I worked it as a real portrait, although it mostly has been worked from imagination. That's the main difference. And even that I wanted to be precise on the style it would be impossible because no style, by itself, is enough for painting, completely, whatever...
