About The Artwork
This is a recent painting, of a serene sunset, on Koh Phangan, where the artist lives. A short walk from his house, towards the surrounding tropical jungle, with many coconut trees. Colourful, yet at the same time solemn, and peaceful. Paint daubs animates the surface, reminding us of the two dimensions of the painting, and transporting us to the scene, as the artist wants to depict it. The artist is confident, and masterful, in the way he lays his paint down. Bold strokes of paint, portray the scene, in a similar way to traditional Chinese painting, or Van Gogh, amongst others. It is a celebration of nature, and art history.

My art has always been a celebration of life, from art school, to the present. They are about what I see, and feel. They are about the human condition, and a fascination, with a heroic struggle. They are about love, and they are about form. I have a strong link to western art, taking a circuitous, route, from early art, through classicism, modernism to contemporary art.
