About The Artwork

This is again using the relatively new technique of using the source image in the painting. I wanted to have the color as well as the form of the photo. Using the yellow/orange shadows of light to texturize and pattern most of the painting. The painted edges describing the parameters of the three key elements of the scene, the parents, the children, and the bridge they are both standing on. The parents are casting shadows over to the little boys, who are in turn looking out to whatever is outside of the bridge. Like the stings of a puppet, the parents relate to their progeny.

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Born in London, she graduated with a BA(honors) in Fine Art from Central St Martins College in 2001. Her paintings are landscapes of personal interaction; poems to the love of line. Working with non-linguistic communication such gesture, body language, lingering looks and gossip. Her work is anthropological and personal, ponderings on the great themes of life, love and leisure. AKA Amelia Bernays Pitti (what systemic sexism?)
