About The Artwork

Tenderness is everywhere even in the storm of grief and or change or all of it. All of it is really what life is really..change. The growing, learning and sometimes having to rebuild from all of it. This pastel painting is muted in intensity on purpose; to draw the viewer in to the potential energy of rebirth. Everything is energy which cannot be made or destroyed. The greatest example of this is love. The pigment has been layered on many times and many different marking made to give dimension. This piece will be different each time you visit it as you the observer are new each time and so the picture too has something new to teachl

Jeanne has traveled extensively throughout the world studying art history and the making of art; observing the connections among various cultures. Her work has come to reflect these experiences. Likewise, there is an underlying theme of spirituality which is rooted firmly in her childhood and has grown to be a seminal influence. Jeanne is interested in what happens to the human spirit's drive towards authenticity. In addition, what happens when this is and is not present in people's lives. She likes to push the limits of the media she uses; always staying curious about her art and the world. As a young mother Jeanne suffered a traumatic brain injury which changed the course of her life and career. Now fully recovered she uses this deemed gift as yet another way to more deeply understand the human condition and so she incorporates all of this into her art. Jeanne says that she abstracts because it is her language. She says that it takes great restrain to abstract since you must peel away so many layers from the trappings of the world yet still engage the viewer's continued attention.
