About The Artwork
Mixed media and collage on cardboard. The artist stole the name for this painting from the title of a book of poems by Jim Harrison, one of her favourite authors. Nope, she hasn't even read it yet, but just the title was enough. "Where I live now, and have done for a while, the rivers are all about us. We live between and among them. You get to know them and notice them, at your peril if you fail to." This is a mixed media and collage painting on cardboard. Cardboard is the best thing ever to paint on because it is quite alive before you even start, and you don't have to worry about stuffing up so you can be totally free and easy with it all.

b 1971 UK Self taught artist working with many mediums but liking paint the best. Painting is just a language that I am more comfortable with, it has an honesty, it is what it is. My work is very unprocessed, direct, I don't see as I paint , just look at it sometime later, then start again or leave it alone until another time. I work with layers, building them up and scraping back, finding stuff I had forgotten about, the painting starts to get interesting, to develop its own past. The word paintings write themselves with no restraint, if I'm not sure I keep writing over, but ultimately the words, however buried, have been said.
