ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Void is an original black and white abstract painting using cracked clay and acrylic paints on a stretched cotton canvas. The canvas measures 40cm x 30cm and is set inside a white painted tray frame measuring 44.5cm x 34.5cm x 3.5cm. There is a 1cm space between the canvas and frame to display the canvas’ painted edge. The Void is a striking painting with beautiful texture and contrast. The black and white paints highlight the cracked texture beautifully and the white frame calms the chaotic surface. Samuel chose to create a black and white piece after recently completing some colourful commissioned paintings. Samuel is drawn to and is comforted by dark colours, his dark painted studio is a testament to that. He has found that the absence of colour when using the clay medium amplifies it’s beauty, allowing the texture to speak for itself. The void is signed on the back by Samuel and has fixings and string already attached for hassle free hanging.
