About The Artwork

The war in Ukraine forced a talented artist to live and work from a tiny room on the outskirts of Chisinau, Moldova, such a place where setting up an even small easel is poses challenges. The habitual cozy work-studio remained in Odessa, and here it is difficult to fit even a small easel in this crampedness. But the plots born in the head, climb from all the cracks. Perhaps the discomfort of everyday life pushes them to birth, calling out faces and faces from oblivion and non-existence. They are different - sad and laugh, happy and thoughtful, thinking about something of their own... I look at these seemingly dolls, but with already completely alive faces, and suddenly I get worried about them, so young and defenseless. Masked puppeteers behind their backs do not give hope for a happy ending. They are gloomy and indifferent, no emotions, no feelings or thoughts on their still faces. These are people who are deader than dolls. Who are they? What did the artist want to tell us? What to warn against? I don't know... What do you think?"
