About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by Japanese floating lantern ceremonies. Each year in Japan, during the Bon Festival in July and August, participants float lanterns down rivers to honor and remember ancestors. Buddhists in Hawaii hold a similar ceremony on memorial day as part of Pearl Harbor festivities. "Toro" is a word for lantern, and "nagashi" means to cruise or flow. The Painted surface extends around the sides of the canvas. It is ready to hang without a frame. This painting will ship within approximately seven business days after your order is placed.
