About The Artwork

View of the city of Toronto as it was in the 1930s is part of a Triptych depicting Toronto's past, Toronto's current skyline and Toronto in The Future, but it can be bought as a single piece. The Royal York Hotel and Commerce Court Building seen in this painting are still dominating the Toronto skyline with little competition from any other buildings of the same height. This young and upcoming city is extending rapidly in this time era but it will take many decades before it will grow into the international metropolis it is today. For all my paintings I exclusively use high-end oil paint and premium canvas to ensure top quality. Paintings will be varnished for protection against sunlight, dust and scratches. All my paintings will come with a solid hanging system at the back of the painting for easy display.

I was born in 1980 in Utrecht, a city in the Netherlands. It is this city I grew up in and the cities and places I came across since that I let me inspire me in my work mostly. As I painter I choose to paint in 1 style only: realism or magic realism. For me as an autodidactic painter, it is the most interesting style to express myself in. architecture plays a very important role in my work and buildings and cities, often painted in a strongly exaggerated perspective, are a returning theme in my paintings.
