About The Artwork

India ink, oil, microcrystalline wax and matt clear varnish on heavy paper. The high-quality artist paper is laminated to a 6 mm thick hardboard and folded around the edges. A 34 mm thick supporting structure made of wood gives the work an effective distance from the wall. Due to the floating character of the picture panel, no further framing is necessary. The wooden construction is also equipped with an aluminum U-rail to ensure easy and safe assembly. The "TRACES OF MAKING ........" series is a peculiar, unintended in-between world that emerges in the working process of the works on canvas. The excess ink penetrates through the canvas, which has been pre-treated with microcrystalline wax, onto the underlying paper and is absorbed. The many work steps result in many layers of paint that overlap. The resulting color landscapes seem random, but are nevertheless shaped by what is happening on the canvas.

Robausch’s artworks oscillate between painting and sculpture, texture and structure, matter and space. Based on his long experience in architecture and industrial design, he developed a special technique to build wall objects and freestanding sculptures. The essence of his objects is the specially designed supporting structure - currently - coated with aluminium. Painted with india ink and hand-sanded with diamond abrasive, his artworks create a timeless depth, with a unique atmosphere.
