About The Artwork

Sides: not painted, with paint from the painting process Ready to hang: yes, suspension hooks already mounted. Frame: unframed, further framing possible but not necessary. Unsigned work. But it has signed Certificate of Authenticity. Medium: acrylic / mixed media on canvas Trash Pink is inspired by the chaos that is experienced daily in the city, noise, movement, and female empowerment. It is a vibrant and noisy work, but harmonious. Being very good in delicate places, providing a good visual balance. To meet art, I necessarily have to surrender and enjoy myself, putting aside the conscious to carry out the work, I completely immerse myself in the sensations and let myself be carried away by where the painting decides. I have no control over what will happen. I let the vagaries of impulse and instinct make me flow, and I let accidents in the painting run through it, making it unique, without wanting to copy anything, just let it flow. Because of that lack of control, I actually realize that I am totally free, uncensored, without a duty to be imposed, and I simply am, giving myself completely. For the elaboration of my works I rotate the support, so that its forms generate new ones, creating a metamorphosis in the symbolic content of the work. I also usually write whatever comes to mind, which I then use to dismember more ideas and forms.

My name is Gabriela Aguerrea and I am 32 years old. I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I´m inspired by artists such as Picasso, Juan Del Prete, Chagall, Carlos Alonso, among others. I began my artistic path in a self-taught way, then I studied in many workshops and finally at the National University of Arts UNA, where I am currently studying, already taking the last subjects. I amalgamate the conscious and the unconscious, playing with what is seen and what is hidden, having as protective framework the free association that connects me with myself, combining a beautiful experience at the time of creation. The fact of melting bodies, looking for the deformed, irregular, accidental and experimental is what I am aiming for. Beauty in the imperfect defines me as a person. The final result is always a revealing moment, in which there is an analysis of self-knowledge that reflects the multiplicity of facets that we have as humans. Once the work is finished, I am interested in the interpretation of the viewer -the other's gaze- which serves to unhide and reveal elements of one's own being. The observer necessarily completes or transforms the work with his contemplation and appropriation of the meaning of it, since it resignifies it and fulfills its ultimate mission that is the knowledge process.
