ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Little Tuesday tip-toeing through the tulip garden saying "Hello sky, hello tulips, hello dirt, hello ladybug." I painted a collection of whimsical children from years ago when my children were itty bitty (now grown and on their own!). Their sweet faces and curiosity inspired me, and in turn I created pieces that celebrated their pureness and wonder and those simple delights. My hope was to bring my children joy with my pictures and stories, create memories-- and uplift everyone who viewed them. This painting was part of my solo show "Joule Parade" in Del Mar, California. Acrylic on heavyweight paper.

A daughter of an artist mother and father with an extensive family tree of artists, Joule has been making art since she was a baby. Born on Valentine's Day 1975 in Virginia-- hers has been a life filled with art. Her second nature to create has always kept her immersed in it, with an underlying desire to self soothe and explore, to escape into her alternative truths with the touch of her fingertips and endless choice of mediums. As a child she, as well as her brothers and half sisters, got accepted into a 4 year special art school program at Old Donation for The Gifted and Talented. Continuing her enthusiasm for art, Joule chose to take up art electives and college level art history and studio courses in Junior and High School. Not only did she enjoy her art classes, she equally enjoyed gathering knowledge from all of her classes which added to a cache of in-depth inspiration to draw from along with her loud and busy colorful and unconventional family life she and her siblings were raised in.
