View In My Room
I have been fascinated by storefronts ever since I set my tiny baby eyes on one. The text fonts and graphic signs, the products, the colors, the characters, logos, language, culture and so on. I want to call store fronts a portraiture of someones product. I may not always want the product, but the storefront sets a precedence for me to be interested in it. It's kind of like falling in love at first glance, but keeping the mystery present by crafting it into an art work. Ladies Market over at Mong Kong, located in Hong Kong, is a popular place for visitors to visit. Unfortunately, ever since the protests and corona virus, this place is not as populated as it used to be, but 'not as populated' is an understatement. It's still a frustratingly congested area, but it has been noticeably maneuverable. Even just until a year and a half ago, this area was just brimming with tourists, and it was a thriving business district... This image was a depiction of that period of time a year and a half before everything went into shutdown. This type of market place environment is what I love to explore as a tourist, and it really lets me get close to local culture. The parasols, the white and blue vinyl sheets, the plastic covers, make shift lights, stools, calculators, hangers etc. This sort of atmosphere really has a human element to it, and I feel like it connects people from all around the world. People who are willing to connect, will connect. The one thing that I disliked about this illustration was the sign above the stall. I loved it so much that I just had to involve it, but in terms of theme and composition, I felt like it was unnecessary.

Hong Kong
Born in South Korea, Seoul Lives and works in Hong Kong I am currently working part time as an artist, and full time as an art assistant at a school. I use this blog as a space to tell stories, share ideas and show artwork. My focus was in animation, but I have found myself leaning closer towards painting and drawing. I like playing basketball, going on long walks, and also going on the occasional hike. One day I wish to work full time as an artist, and travel the world.
