ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My work reflects the dialogue between the changing fashions and styles of art history, against the constant force of nature and the earth from which the artworks were made. Fragments, historical sculptures and motifs are overlaid – mimicking as we do when curating by placing them in a museum, domestic, or public setting – onto natural, inhospitable and unforgiving landscapes. These composite scenes are constructed from a bank of historical images, just like spolia is repurposed and reused repeatedly; and as much scrutinise the re-use and framing of historical imagery throughout time as celebrate it.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work applies the visual analysis and research disciplines obtained in studying BA and MA art history at the Courtauld, London, to demonstrate that art is both a continuum and a language which speaks across time and space. Materials, styles and motifs evolve, as do curatorial methods; we attempt to imitate life in art, then continuously frame and reframe it. Running parallel is the constant destructive force of nature, which weathers and re-forms these imitations, unaffected by contemporary artistic concerns. To capture this dichotomy I create composites of artistic motifs, applied arts, decorative patterns and historical fragments with natural elements, often ironically playing on the illusionistic aspects of art imitating nature.
