About The Artwork
The Nobel Prize winner Camilo José Cela wrote about an area of Spain that is now known as Empty Spain. This story is called "Viaje a la Alcarria" (Journey to the Alcarria). It is a place where I have spent many moments of my life, and I wanted to retrace the same paths he walked. In these moments I cannot think in abstraction, nature calls me to represent it as it is. Noble and empty, beautiful... It is a very strange feeling to know that there was life and that life left these places with so much history... Except for the few farmers who continue to plough the land.... who are still resisting.
