About The Artwork

I now live in El Paso, TX and love the mountains that surround us. While driving on I 10 you can see Juarez, the Rio Grand river, the large red X in the middle the city of Juarez. This scene captured my imagination, and I just had to paint my impression of the view. On the United States side there is a large A in the side of a mountain.

I moved to El Paso, TX a year and a half ago. I love the mountains that surround El Paso. I have less space to work in and keep my pieces, but I started to paint. I am also going to start working on some pottery. happened to.. I had cancer 4 times and So far survived each time. This and many other experiences have made me the artist I am. Right after Ron died I started to make pottery bowls, plates, houses, and abstract objects. Now it's been over 2 years I have painted some during this time. But I know Ron would want me to go on. So in October of 2016 I signed up here at Saatcji Art. And will start selling again and working again. I am every excited and so are my past clients. Artist Bio Born Barbara Jackson, Portsmouth, Virginia, December 1952. Barbara was discouraged at a young age by her family to not pursue her love of creating art. I did not pursue any type of artistic expression again until after her fiftieth birthday. Then encouraged by my husband Ron, I took a course in painting at the local community college, where I was attending for a business degree. That was the beginning of a wonderful story I changed my major and went on to receive a BFA from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA and a Master of Find Art degree from Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA. In my painting I try to convey a mood or atmosphere, sometimes using many different mediums, other times working with the paint creating what sometimes are surprising yet wonderful results. Many of my landscapes and figurative pieces are created in oils, still life’s in acrylics. Although not strictly adhere to this, sometimes creating landscapes in acrylic, and still-life’s in oil. The only rule is to use the medium that fits my mood at the time the piece is being created. For the past several years Barbara has been motivated to create portrait and figurative paintings. Her style lends itself to a unique realistic interpetation of the individual or individuals she may portray.
