‘War’ was living hell, on one day March 21st 1918 three and a half million shells were fired on British troops in five hours…They had no warning; it was carnage. I recently saw a photo of that carnage and wanted to paint it, for me this lone soldier captures the horror of war. A few years ago I went on a trip to Kanchanaburi to see the 'Bridge over the River Kwai' and 'hellfire pass’. It’s called Hellfire Pass because the sight of emaciated prisoners labouring at night by firelight was said to resemble a scene from hell. Until then I didn't understand the horrors of war, I do now, and it left me with a feeling I will never forget It is the most haunting place I have ever been to, you almost feel the pain of the men and women who died there. As a result, I painted Poppies, than last year I painted ‘Dunkirk’ where 68,111 died or were captured. In 2018 the editors of an online gallery tipped me for the top as one to watch and invest in, picked from thousands of outstanding artists. I have sent my work to over 29 countries and to some great landmarks such as Berkeley Square in London’s Mayfair, 5th Ave New York, Malibu beach in California and from Washington to LA, Hong Kong, Monaco and Singapore, in fact, one of my best collectors is in Amsterdam which is not short of great artist or galleries, I’m very proud of that. COMMISSIONS: I would be delighted to create you a unique work, whatever size you need or colour palette. Thailand
Ta Byrne is a Thai artist who lives and works on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, just off the south coast of Thailand. Her Oil Paintings . are vibrant, eye-catching and packed with a sense of fun and humour. Ta takes humans as her focal point in her Figurative Painting but abstracts these figures by distorting them and using a cartoonish style to create a more humorous feel. While her work is mostly representational, she incorporates Surrealist elements in many of her paintings, making her one of the most exciting artists working in Thailand today. Ta comes from humble beginnings, living out her childhood on the rural outskirts of Bangkok as a farmer's daughter. During her teen years, she worked sewing shirts in a Bangkok sweatshop, and it was during this time that she met an old street artist who invited her to his studio. This sparked her desire to become an artist, and since then, she has gone on to produce Abstract and Cubist paintings that have received international acclaim from art connoisseurs.
