About The Artwork

Walking the undulating topography of the mountain, along side family, and relatives with our luggage weighing each and everyone one of us down while threading the path to our destination seemingly looking bleak with every step forward...Famished, exhausted, and my thought going in circles, came a rush of how everyone was struggling to manage their burden(Luggage) In life today, we are all faced with some form of obstacles or challenges, physically, mentally, or spiritually...Out there, is one, a child, a woman, a man, faced with various abuse. In a different scenario, is the one challenged with personality issues, mentally sapping of energy. On the other hand, some in search for the ultimate truth, self-actualization, a balance between the here and nothingness. Having the viewers look through these pictorial lens and phases in the life of a individual that can be me, you, you, and you, one should ponder immensely how unique we are as humans, and how differently we manage and go through the motions of life. This piece of art was done using acrylic on canvas, I enjoy working with this medium because of several painting surfaces that it can be used on without first needing to apply gesso. It adheres without the risk of peeling if the surface even slightly has tooth. Although acrylic paint is very durable, extremely cold conditions might cause it to crack. With a sense of obsessional creation, I create paintings with no set style, technique for applying paint, or direction to take. The idea of making abstract art out of one's emotional expression is attributed to the impulsive, brave, and slightly insane. Similar to the surrealist view that art should originate from the unconscious. Finding the link within the human spirit is what it's all about and this much reflects my style of abstract expressionism.

Am a self taught contemporary visual artist, born and raised in Nigeria, and currently residing in India. My journey as an artist, started off at a pretty young age, and has spanned over three decades. My works of abstract geometric expressionism captured through the lens of events from childhood to adulthood, cuts across various backdrops and borders. In dealing with family love, tragedies, global conflicts, social-political and economic instability, religion, racial bias, festivities, cultures, people, lifestyles, norms and traditions, exposed me to a great level of understanding, knowledge and experience. Art plays an important role in my life and is more a platform of activism for me, creating awareness of the need for us to unite as citizens of the human race irrespective of our differences.
