About The Artwork

This is a new series I have started of water towers in NYC that are kin to my series of smokestacks. I have been collecting their images as I wonder through town and take note of where they are and title them as such so that the viewer could actually go see it in person, if they so desired. They are a part of the fabric of this city and I find that their features and locales along with the lighting of that particular moment imbue these towers with their own personalities and distinctive manners that punctuates the city's collective image.

I have been drawing since kindergarten and learned to paint during my higher education. I started out as an abstract painter, but decided I was better served working within the classical genres. This provided me with a rule against which to measure my progress which helped improve my technical reach. My style eventually evolved into a mingling of my abstract tendencies with my representational work. I will often paint a subject in legion, crowding off the edges of the canvas. This serves to illustrates the dynamic of opposites such as the individual vs. the communal and randomness vs. order.
