King bird-of-paradise (Cicinnurus regius), New Guinea. Of course he's angry. You would be. Alkyd oils on board, with acrylic underpainting and additional use of graphite pencil and marker pen. Board edges white. Varnished. Signed and dated bottom right. Size 50 x 50 cm (19.7 x 19.7 inches), edge depth 2.1 cm (0.8 inches). This painting forms part of a series of 3 which could be hung together, with "Paradisornis rudolphi" and "Seleucidis melanoleucus".
