About The Artwork

This painting is performed in a unique author's technique which combines oil painting with graphic technique - monotype. A woman in the city, but she is a child of nature and emotions, as evidenced by birds, sunflowers and bull on the right side. The woman and the bull are one of my favorite motives. It is a reminder of the ancient legend of the abduction of Europe. The artwork has been exhibited in personal art exhibition "Moisture" at Talsi City Art museum in Latvia as well as in personal art exhibitions in galleries "M Gallery" , "Museum LV" in Riga You can see other artworks done by Ieva Caruka in this technique in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRnqTiHuaf4&ab_channel=IevaCaruka

I am influenced by the ancient Dogon culture in Africa and the spirit of Latvian Suiti, I am inspired by the image of a black woman in the contemporary art. I write my big world stories with lines, colors and collages from personal clothes. My own story about the little white woman the bearer of the Eastern European genetic code. She knows what the KGB interrogation was and what the diamonds are, she has no pragmatism. She can clean the potatoes and dream of love at the same time. The question is – what the world is now? Everything is changing. Traditions are collapsing and the big role of a woman – to be a mother, wife- is losing its relevance. There are already so many people on this planet. My heroines, like birds – Phoenix – shrink to ashes, unfulfilled sexuality to be reborn in a new image, in new Goddesses.
