ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Obviously modelled after Velázquez' "Meninas", but with a grain or two of Goya's sarcasm plus some other sociopolitical and cultural references, a portrait of two generations in Spanish Royal Family. The title is borrowed from "Carta al Rey Melchor", sung and composed by Albert Pla. In September 2021 it took part in an exhibition at Torrelameu (Lleida), where both the city council and the painting itself received threats and insults, most probably from Spanish nationalist and right-wingers.
