About The Artwork

Abstract impressionism is the style of painting that I have invented only to find out that it was an existing movement in painting. It does not matter, I did not steal it from anybody. You could call it expressionism or emotional impressionism or something completely different. At that time I was trying to connect past movement with current trends. I wanted to be unusual at the same time. Now I do not think that focusing on being original is very important, everybody is unique and everybody is the same, this is a paradox of life.

Creating images is my way of life, which always goes back to canvas and freedom to paint “in-between thoughts.” Painting “in-between thoughts” is the process of creation when I feel connected to the universal, one with paint, brushes, and canvas. It is a process in which time and space cease to exist; it is the feeling of perfect harmony, of being in touch with the mysterious and unexplained, in contact with archetypes of my humanity. This process overrides the importance of the theme, a way of depiction, or the meaning of my paintings. It is a process of recreation, rather than imitation, of the reality that I perceive. In other words, I paint what I see and feel, and I see and feel what I paint, and thus, each of my paintings reflects both my subjective perception and my reaction to it; it is both being created and is a creator, and what I see when I put away a brush mystifies me. Painting is my way of communication by unraveling my search for “true self” and inviting the viewer to experience the universal. However, if somebody chooses to ignore the invitation, he/she can always perceive the craft and appreciate it or not. These decisions I leave for the beholder and his/her eye.
