ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My painting process involves photography and in the context of the pandemic, I started to build images that I call “pre-painting” by photographing my own body, lending myself to the construction of the scene/gesture to be painted. Despite initially not being aware of this procedure, it becomes a constant in my process thus creating a connection that I had not realized before is my experience, in performing arts with my production in the visual arts specifically: acting for my paintings as an actor-painter in a paratheatre

Juliano Mazzuchini, actor, visual artist, and researcher, lives and works in Buenos Aires - Argentina. He studied theater at ELT - Escola Livre de Teatro de Santo André and where he concentrated his scenic research in the epic theater, having acted and directed for 20 years. In 2017 he started his research in Visual Arts, specifically painting. He participates in exhibitions and salons in Brazil, Argentina, and the United States of America, such as the Luiz Sacilotto Contemporary Art Salon, the Visual Arts Contest-Fondo Nacional de las Artes and "Do write(right) to me" in New Youk and Miami. In 2020 he did artistic monitoring at Jardim do Hermes-São Paulo-Brasil, Clínica de Obra with Mariano Vilela-Buenos Aires-Argentina. He was also part of Uncool Artist's ILAP BR (International Lab for Art Practices Brazil). Due to his background in the performing arts, his pictorial investigation reveals elements of theater, such as gestures, lighting, and situation (action). His compositions often work like a magnifying glass, highlighting situations that suggest a before and after that moment. Moments often propose, by the highlight, a more intimate look.
