ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In defense of things My faith in the existence of the material world makes me think about what this world consists of. Objects have accompanied man since the dawn of time. In the past, things were of great value, their production involved some effort, and their quantity was limited. Objects were divided into those for everyday use and those intended for magical purposes. The world was filled with human hand products gradually. The significance of objects and faith in their energy changed. Finally, in the era of overproduction, the concept of "everyday object / magic object" is redefined. I get the impression that man's authority over an object has been broken, an example is addiction to computers or smartphones. In this relationship, man becomes a prisoner of the object. In my project, i try to hare things pushed to the margins of mainstream reality. Drawing inspiration from various cognitive methods and directions based on them, I find just such objects. I submit them to photographic reflection. Sometimes I create new forms that have no real application, but are only an attempt to give them a totemic character. The answers obtained in this way, contained in the picture, are for me a confirmation of the feeling that in everything that surrounds us there is primary energy that remains in constant motion. Kamil Matziol Statement Photographs are for me a testimony of the existence of a point in space that is constantly changing. They enable observation of something invisible and ephemeral. By taking photographs we are able to depict a sense of reality that has already passed. They are an image that somehow is an interpretation of reality and its moments. I am fascinated by the fact that we trust what we see, we identify it with our own experiences that give us a reference point to a certain perception. I try to create photographs that might be something that reflects that sum of feelings. My photographs consist of a series in which the main motif is a man and their existence. The environment they live in that might create a situation that is not comfortable and functional. I am also interested in the consumption nature of existence and the production effect as well as the change in the proportion between objects and people. The number of the existence of “things”, their short viability and searching for the answer to the question why we have just come to the place where we „create” and give meaning to such principles. In my work, I have adopted a method that is a process of constant attempts to remember and reproduce, based on conceptual elements. Photographing can be an active way to change something. I am interested in the process of this endeavor.
