Becca Ly

United Kingdom

Becca works primarily with nostalgia, technology and the natural world. She enjoys the absence felt in many of her works, usually choosing to capture a scene which does not feature human intervention, or with human intervention as an implication rather than a fact. Her more personal works use her own absence as a record of her presence. The photos she usually selects for exhibition have a quality of artificiality about them, a shallow depth of field often rendering them the quality of the 'miniature', almost like dioramas. This technique combined with an attraction to natural instances of luminous colour defines her current style. Although her main disciplines are videography and photography, she also likes to create loose intimations of figures from pencil and watercolour.
