Another Era in B&W - Limited Edition 1 of 25 Print

One weekend while drive down countless dirt roads looking for something "interesting” to photograph I happened upon this old home in the middle of a cow pasture. Luckily the light on that day was perfect with just the right amount of clouds in the sky. I took dozens of photographs from all different angles. A farmer sat on his tractor watching me for a while before he finally approached and offered this brief history. "That shack used to be home to a family of sharecroppers back in the 40's and 50's. It’s been used as storage during storms but has been empty for pretty much the last 40 years." He went on to tell me that if I wanted anymore pictures to get them this week because they were tearing the place down soon. I drove by a few weeks later, just to see if it was still standing. It was gone, just a fresh patch of dirt remained amongst the grass, the only reminder that something was once there. My grandfather told me stories of the struggles growing up the son of a sharecropper. I can't even imagine him, his mom, dad and 8 siblings all living in a dirt floor shack like this.
