About The Artwork

Cinema Atlàntida was a Manresa cinema located in Manresa at Passeig de Pere III, 50. It was inaugurated on August 27, 1976 with the film: Jaws (Shark). It was located right next to the existing Catalunya cinema. Both cinemas were owned by the Padró family. At first they functioned as two independent establishments, but from 1987 the Catalunya disappeared to become a room of the Atlântida, with an entrance from the Passeig. On June 16, 1988, with the inauguration of the multi-cinema complex, three more rooms were added to the one already there. In total, multiplex cinemas had 2,246 seats for the public. The company Espectacles Padró Cabot SL. decides to close the doors of Atlantida in 2012. These are some of the photographs I took during my visits to the cinema and my attendances to the Manresa International Film Noir Festival, where I was lucky to roam freely while it was empty.
