Painted metal walls, corrugated or not, oxidise with time and rain and take on the reddish, warm colour of rust. A warm colour par excellence. This warmth conveys the opposite of the cold that can be found in cities in general. Iron has this magic. So coming across an iron hut warmed my heart on a day that was no longer grey for me. Few of these buildings will exist in the future. But I wanted to portray them, to remember them beyond my memory. I want to share these remnants of a warm, disappearing world. When I started the series of cables, photography became the natural medium to portray the urban architecture of the present and, at the same time, of an ancient world. Like stranded and rusting ships, they decay and become relics of a time gone by.
