About The Artwork

Like many ancient cities and towns, Bath has a complex of cellars, vaults and tunnels spreading beneath almost the entire city centre. As the city was developed in the 17th and 18th centuries, the street level was raised by several meters to avoid flooding from the River Avon, leaving a layer of history behind.
