ABOUT THE ARTWORK

An original Cyanotype print of native Wild Carrot plants, blossoming late spring and summer. The printing process is done fully by hand in my studio, using pressed plants collected locally and natural sunlight. The print captures the details of the plant, bringing a piece of nature to your home decor. The work is hand printed on 300 g Aquarelle paper. The print is made to order, so please allow slight changes in composition and blue tones, due to changing sunlight conditions. This makes the work a one of a kind piece.

My main source of inspiration is nature. I create botanical Cyanotype prints using plants and flowers I collect in a nature reserve near my hometown. Cyanotype is a 19th century printing process which uses the sunlight to capture images on a light-sensitive surface. In my work, I use a similar method to the original process using light-sensitive chemicals, natural sunlight and real plants I’ve collected. Because the sun conditions are never the same, each print has its own unique quality. I would love to bring the beauty and simplicity of nature to your home through my artworks. In addition, I create digital collage works crafted from bits and pieces of vintage illustrations. These illustrations, now part of the public domain, are the material I use to build my compositions. I search Inspirational illustrations in museum and library collections, building different worlds, where plants and birds are the masters of the universe.
