Lockdown changed life in many ways. Composition 510 is a reflection on how things may look when I'm no longer around. When the rules tightened again giving Britain Lockdown 3, I returned to my immediate surroundings. This is my dining table and chair. I had to focus on my immediate surroundings: rooms, garden, ceilings, floors, tables, bookcases, etc. As I usually have in recent years, I transformed the images to be symmetrical and straight, but I also added colour. Together with most of the images in the RVBC series, this one is a mix of reality and abstraction. All of us are a product of our age. At present we are living in a 'post-truth' world where a lot of the information we receive is meant to lie, confuse or obfuscate. In this “Lockdown” series my images have been taken from reality but manipulated to suit my needs and wants. They are intended to clarify that indeed, they are NOT truthful. They are captured from reality, however what is shown is not what there is, but what I wish there to be. I am hoping that my images may contribute to art and society in two ways: First, to remind viewers that truth should be questioned and verified. Secondly, to please the eye with largerr than life colour and idealised shapes and forms. The intention is to create interesting and aesthetically pleasing images, based not on emotions, but on reason. I’m pulling at the heartstrings with the neurons of the mind. I hope
