About The Artwork

Secrets are something that everyone has, but nobody admits it. How do they appear? How do we incubate them? How do they slip from the realm of the invisible into the visible world – from the sphere of the ideal into the scope of the material? Interestingly enough, they already live around us all the time – and they permeate all our daily activities. They hide in our morning cup of coffee; their whisper is in the sound of tap water; their whistle is in the sounds of metro; they eat our lunch with us; they get entangled in the filaments and at one’s fingertips, in one’s hair and clothes, shoe-lace, wallets and headphones, colors and sounds around us – and at the end of the day they slip into one’s pillow. They are always with us – anytime, anywhere. I remember us, children, playing the game of ‘secrets’ 20 years ago. We used to bury candy wrappers under multi-colored bits of glass near the roots of various trees. Those secrets were sort of materialized by us, giving them a physical form and thus alienating them. In doing so we got ourselves free from the secret. It is amazing how symbolic the games children play turn out to be – and what powerful rituals they happen to be. It is strange that we often forget about it, when growing up. Today, 20 years later, I incubate my secrets and I can not find the tree to bury them near its roots. So they all live around me, outside and inside me. They are iridescent in these multi-colored bits of glass, and they find themselves no other place for habitation – and find no rest…
