CA1, or the Pacific Coast Highway, winds alongside the Pacific for more than 650 miles, from Leggett to Dana Point. This shot is from the northern section. I must confess I found this stretch of driving terrifying. I had to turn off onto roadside "scenic views" to still my racing heart -- I'm afraid of heights and there is a marked lack of guard rails on the highway. (This shot was captured at one of my many stops). I was actually relieved that I had to quit just north of Fort Bragg, turn around, and retrace my route back to the 101 because of a bad accident that had traffic on the 2-lane road backed up for miles. On the Edge: US -- I drove solo, counterclockwise, on US Highways and Interstates as close to the edge of the country as possible and captured images out the passenger side window. Later, I processed the photograph through the Waterlogue app to turn it into a digital watercolor. I chose to print on aluminum to avoid having to display the work behind glass. The small scale evokes a postcard, a classic road trip souvenir. NOTE: not in current inventory, need 3 week lead time for printing

I work and live in Los Angeles. Overall, I create maps of my memories through my art. This can entail use of photography, digital apps, collage, or textiles. The recollective wayfinding runs through most of my work, ranging from small photographic souvenirs of road trips to tactile knotted squares of textiles that hold my history.
