Counterfeit Negroes - Limited Edition of 20 Print

The self-actualization of the 1970's black radicals was the inspiration for this work. Many 'radicals' were involved for the visuals and not to actually uplift the oppressed and economically disadvantaged. With this work I wanted to expose the appropriators, striking a pose in all of their regalia and pretense, who helped neutralize the black power movement. I used a mimeography effect to elicit a sense of time and place in the viewer eye.
